The Koondrook Barham Football & Netball Club was founded in 1996 as a result of a merger between 2 of the greatest rivals in the old NDFL Koondrook Football Club (Tigers) & the Barham Football Club (Magpies). This merger of these 2 very old and successful teams is unique in bringing together the twin towns of Koondrook in Victoria & Barham in NSW. The clubs first season was in the Nthn. & Echuca F.L. in 1996.
As a result of the Nthn. & Echuca FL being wound up, the Raiders after much consideration decided to enter the much higher Mid Murray FL. This league encompassed the Swan Hill area, but it is now known as the Central Murray FL because of the participation of our club, and our old foes Leitchville-Gunbower, Cohuna Kangas & Kerang.
The merger has been very successful to-date and the Raiders have already won 2 premierships, those being an Under 11’s and a Reserve Grade (2008), the Seniors have played finals footy several times and are very keen to soon reach that ultimate prize!
We have won a League Best & Fairest in each grade, i.e. Seniors (Shane Guerra), Reserves (Mick O’Toole) & Under 17’s (Leigh Hollingworth), plus had leading goalkickers in Seniors & Reserves.
Our colours are the same as Adelaide Crows, i.e. red, blue & gold. We have only been wearing these colours for five years as our original jumper was designed to incorporate the old colours of Koondrook & Barham which was black with yellow & white hoops.
Our current Senior coach is ex VFL player Peter Taylor, formally from Echuca Utd & Wangaratta.
Each Saturday our club fields six teams of football, 4 juniors & 2 open age, plus 6 netball sides, we play all our games at Barham and we are very much a family orientated club with a huge supporter base.
So if you are visiting our great area and wish to see country football at its finest, close up and personal come and have a drink and cheer with the locals...
We welcome you!
